2020 Florida HEW Webinars Registration (Fall)

Centropa USA is proud to offer two "PD in PJs" webinars for Florida teachers to help you prepare for Holocaust Education Week, November 9-13, in which schools are mandated to involve students in learning about the Holocaust.

There is no registration fee, and both webinars on are Thursday evenings: October 15 and October 22, 2020, so that you have time to create dynamic learning for the week of November 9-13.

What is Centropa? Centropa (www.centropa.org) is a historical organization that works with teachers to use our stories of 20th century Central European Jewish life to explore students' own stories, civic values, tolerance, and global citizenship. From 2000-2009, we asked elderly Jews in 15 European countries to tell us their entire life stories spanning the 20th century as they showed us their old family photographs. We did not use video, nor did we focus on the Holocaust, and we don't have a boxed curriculum.

Create the lessons you need for the students you teach—in history, ethics, geography, civics, foreign language, creative writing, English Language Arts, and film, art, and photography classes—with 25,000 old family photographs, 700+ translated interviews, and short multimedia films. Our materials cost nothing.

Register here and we will send you a Zoom registration link three days before each webinar. For those whose school districts will give PD credit for attending we will gladly write a letter confirming attendance of all sessions.

However, if there are other topics you would like us to offer in future webinars, please list them here. *

Joe Smith, Charlotte, NC. I teach English Language Arts to 7th and 8th grade students. I received my master's degree in English from Queens University of Charlotte, and have been teaching middle school for fifteen years.
