Matrix

A Matrix question is a closed-ended question that asks respondents to evaluate a list of items (rows) using a set of choices (columns).

Single answer per row

The Matrix, Single answer per row question type lets respondents select one answer for each item (rows) from a defined list of choices (columns).

Multiple answers per row

The Matrix, Multiple answers per row (checkboxes) question type lets respondents select one or more answers for each item (rows) from a defined list of choices (columns).

Product B
Product C

Rating/Likert

A Matrix, Rating/Likert question is a variation of the Matrix, Single answer per row question where you can assign weights to each answer choice. Rating Scales automatically calculate a weighted average for each answer choice in the Analyze section.

Options

On Matrix questions you can configure the following options:

  • Answer required – To make sure respondents answer a question.
  • Randomize choices – To randomize the order of the choices for each respondent.
  • Limit the number of choices – To limit the number of choices a respondent can select.
  • Each column can only be selected one time – To ensure respondents select only one column (this is useful to create a ranking of the available options).
