Pre-Populate

Pre-Populate lets you automatically fill in survey fields using data you already have (like name, age, or email) so respondents don’t have to re-enter it. This feature is available on paid plans.

How it works

Here is a sample survey:

By default, when someone clicks the standard survey link, all fields are blank. To pre-fill a question, more information is appended to the end of the URL. To pre-fill the first question with "Mary":

Pre-Populate URL formatting

Here’s how to format Pre-Populate URLs for different question types:

• Multiple Choice questions
  q1_2 – Selects the second option in question 1.
• Open Text questions
  q2=Mary – Enters “Mary” into question 2.
• Matrix questions
  q3_1=2 – Selects column 2 of row 1 in question 3.
